Woolf McClane Attorneys Participating in
Knoxville Barristers.
Two Woolf McClane attorneys were recently elected to new positions in the Knoxville Barristers, the young lawyers division of the Knoxville Bar Association.
Other Woolf McClane attorneys were also appointed to serve on various Barristers committees for 2009:
Meghan Morgan and Dean Howell will co-chair the Law School Mentor Committee, where they will serve as liaisons between the Knoxville Bar Association and the University of Tennessee College of Law. Among other things, Ms. Morgan and Mr. Howell will host a presentation at the College of Law including a panel of Knoxville attorneys who will answer questions and educate law students about what it means to be a lawyer. They will also conduct a "mock interview" program to assist first-year law students in improving their interviewing skills.
Laurie Hallenberg will co-chair the Membership Committee, where she will be responsible for planning and hosting several social and networking events for the Barristers, including the Barristers' annual reception for new attorneys who have recently passed the bar examination and have been admitted to practice law by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Latisha Stubblefield will chair the School Outreach Committee, where she will be responsible for a brand new Barristers initiative involving the distribution of a new educational pamphlet to Knox County high school students titled "When You Become 18 in Tennessee." The program is intended to educate local high school students about the responsibilities associated with becoming a responsible adult, including matters such as budgeting, paying taxes, starting a family, and staying out of trouble with the law.
Andrew McRee will co-chair the Habitat for Humanity Committee, where he will coordinate volunteers from both the Barristers and the broader membership of the Knoxville Bar Association to construct a new home for Knoxville Habitat for Humanity.
Nic Arning will chair the Long-Range Planning Committee in addition to serving in an advisory capacity for the Hunger & Poverty Relief Committee. Mr. Arning has previously served as chairman of the Hunger & Poverty Relief Committee and has been instrumental in furthering its mission to serve the poor and underprivileged in the Knoxville community through charitable programs such as "Mobile Meals," where Barristers members deliver hot meals to dozens of elderly and disabled citizens, twice weekly. Mr. Arning has also been responsible for other initiatives of the Hunger & Poverty Relief Committee, including its annual food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank, its annual clothing drive for Coats for the Cold, and various other fundraisers benefiting charities such as the Knoxville YWCA, the Safe Haven Women's Crisis Recovery Center, Child Help USA, and the Knox Area Rescue Ministries.
