Darsi N. Sirknen


Darsi Newman Sirknen is an associate with the firm. Her primary areas of practice include federal and state taxation, estate planning, and general corporate and transactional law.

Ms. Sirknen was born and raised in Jefferson County, Tennessee. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 2002 with a B.A. in political science. In 2006, she earned her J.D., with a concentration in business transactions, from the University of Tennessee College of Law, graduating with highest honors and being named to the Order of the Coif. During law school, Ms. Sirknen served as executive editor of Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law. In 2007, Ms. Sirknen obtained her LL.M. in taxation, with honors, from the University of Alabama.

Ms. Sirknen’s publications include Asset Protection Trusts: What’s the Big Deal, 8 The Tennessee Journal of Business Law 133 (Fall 2006); and Tennessee’s Investment Services Act: A Monumental Change in Tennessee Trust Law, 43 The Tennessee Bar Journal 16 (September 2007), for which she received the Tennessee Bar Association’s Justice Joseph W. Henry Award for Outstanding Legal Writing.

Ms. Sirknen is admitted to practice law in all Tennessee courts, the United States Tax Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. She is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association (serving on the Executive Council for its Estate Planning and Probate Section), and the Knoxville Estate Plannning Council.
